Worldwide Customs & Regulatory Updates: Hong Kong Eliminates Import Duty on Wine & Liquor with an Alcoholic Strength of not more than 30%

Hong Kong has eliminated duty rates on imported wine and liquor with an alcoholic strength of not more than 30% by volume.

To facilitate customs clearance of such shipments, shippers must provide a clear description in their shipping documents of the type of liquor and its alcoholic strength.

Also, please be reminded that the existing license/permit-control requirements and duties relating to imported wine and liquor with an alcoholic strength of more than 30% are unchanged.

A list of examples of liquor can be found at http://www.customs.gov.hk/pdf/pdf_notice/fact_sheet_eng.pdf.
