UPS Expands Leadership Roles In Asia To Position For Growth

UPS has appointed four senior executives in Asia. Craig Foster has been appointed senior vice president of supply chain and healthcare logistics, Asia Pacific Region. KK Leung has been named president, UPS South District. William Ng has been named managing director of UPS Hong Kong and Macau, and Anita Li appointed the managing director of UPS Taiwan.

In his new role, Foster will be responsible for UPS’s supply chain solutions, distribution and overall healthcare initiatives in the region. UPS recently announced it will open its first dedicated healthcare facility in Asia to accompany and connect UPS’s worldwide healthcare presence. The facility in Singapore will be operational by the end of the first quarter of 2011.

“Driven by expanding relationships with healthcare companies and a growing trend towards outsourcing, UPS is seeing an increased demand from healthcare manufacturers wanting more agile supply chain solutions worldwide,” said Derek Woodward, president of the UPS Asia Pacific region. “This is an exciting time for the company. We are delighted that Craig accepted the challenge and is on board to drive the supply chain and healthcare logistics business in the region in this new role.”

With six years of experience in the management of the logistics business in Asia Pacific and 33 years of experience in logistics management, Foster will work hand-in-hand with UPS’s supply chain and healthcare customers in the region to monitor their demands and develop solutions for their fast-evolving needs.

Foster assumes his new role after heading up the UPS South District, Asia Pacific region, for two years where he was responsible for UPS package and supply chain operations in 29 countries, including the fast-growing markets of India and Vietnam.

Prior to that, he was the vice president for supply chain operations of UPS South District and up to 2009, he was the vice president for contract logistics at UPS Asia Pacific region.

Along with Foster’s appointment, UPS announced the promotion of Leung as president, UPS South District, Asia Pacific region. Leung most recently worked as managing director of UPS Hong Kong and Macau. He joined UPS Hong Kong in 1990 and has since held a variety of positions with the company including general manager of operations of UPS Taiwan in 1999 and area director of UPS East China in 2000.

Most notably, Leung directed the Asia launch of the Delivery Information Acquisition Device (DIAD), UPS’s handheld computer; the opening of the Express Centre at the Hong Kong international airport; the establishment of UPS’s trans-Pacific hub in Taiwan, and the development of UPS’s business in East China. He has 21 years of experience in the aviation and transportation industry.

Ng, the new managing director of UPS Hong Kong and Macau, was formerly the managing director of UPS Taiwan. Li was the senior hub manager at UPS Hong Kong.

“At UPS, we recognize that Asia is a key strategic region leading the company’s international volume growth with nearly 30 percent growth in 2010. With these new appointments, we are confident that an even stronger team is in place to meet the needs and requirements of our global clients as they grow their businesses while we support them with UPS’s expertise in exports and logistics,” said Woodward.
