TNT Achieves TAPA Level One Validation

TNT achieves level one validation from TAPA for trucks operating on its Asia Road Network in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Level One is the highest validation that TAPA awards in the TSR (Trucking Security Requirements) category.

This validation is of particular interest to customers from the high-tech, automotive/industrial, healthcare industry as well as those who require day-definite secure transit for high-value and time-sensitive commodities. The increased security hardware and

processes benefit customers with added peace-of-mind and more efficient tracking that allows point-to-point monitoring of valuable commodities.

The security measures are designed to increase the effectiveness of transport security protocol, urge the adoption of more advanced security and tracking technology, as well as provide benchmarks for training staff in mitigating security threats both en-route and while static.

TNT pioneered the Asia Road Network in 2005. The network currently serves seven countries and 127 cities in Southeast Asia and China, covering a distance of 7,650 km.

According to TAPA research, more than 62 percent of losses incurred on road freight transport happens en-route, or while the truck is away from the secure depots.

The TSR specifies the minimum acceptable security standards for assets traveling throughout the supply chain and the methods to be used in maintaining those standards.

TNT has taken the TAPA requirements a stage further by deploying CCTV cameras on their fleet. The cameras, which can be monitored remotely, observe the loading and unloading of the trailer, to ensure quality controls at all stages of the movement of the customer’s goods.

The cameras are also used to detect if the trailer is being followed and the control room is able to alert the police immediately of an eminent attack on the

vehicle.
