The Logistics & Supply Chain Management Society
The regional professional body for logistics practioners
The Society has published on our website a Logistics & Supply Chain Glossary of almost 5,000 words. Available to both members and non-members and can be accessed by following the relevant links on the Society’s website (www.lscms. org). Almost five years in the making, it contains terms and definitions commonly used in our industry today.
Please send any feedback, corrections or any words that you would like to see added to the glossary through to the Society. Based on requests, we plan to print copies to be made available to professionals and students. Companies or organizations who are interested in this unique sponsorship opportunity are requested to contact the Secretariat at elee@lscms.org.
SAUDI TRANSTEC
Responding to a call by some of our members in the Middle East to raise our presence and profile, the Society this year decided to be one of the official Supporting Associations for Saudi TransTec 2010, which will be held in Damman from the 25 - 27 October.
The event is billed as providing Saudi Arabia and the Eastern Province with the most comprehensive exhibition in the region, covering all areas of Transportation, Materials Handling, Warehousing and Logistics. It offers an opportunity for local, regional and international companies to take advantage of Saudi Arabia’s accelerated growth in these key sectors. For more information on bookings or the event, please visit our website.
INCOTERMS 2010
The eighth revision of the Incoterms, the International Chamber of Commerce shipment and delivery terms looks set to be released before the end of the year. Since Incoterms are not law, and follow trade practice rather than attempting to establish it, the ICC can revise them whenever it determines change is required.
The Society updates developments in this very key area of supply chain management on our online forum open to all professionals and which can be accessed from our website at www.lscms.org.
STUDENT COMMITTEE
The new Executive Committee members of the LSCMS Student Chapter at Singapore’s Ngee Ann Polytechnic were successfully elected into their positions in the elections held in June. This year saw more than 50 new individuals sign up, bringing the current number of student members in Ngee Ann to just over 150.
