STAR Sports Speedzone Gets Timely Logistics Boost from GAC

Formula One and racing car fans in the region are in line for a pre-Formula One experience as GAC Logistics helps bring the STAR Sports Speedzone Presented by ING Regional Roadshow Series staging and equipment to Singapore, Bangkok and New Delhi.

The Singapore leg of the regional road show, which was recently held from 1-3 August at the Galleria Foyer of the Suntec City Mall, gave car racing devotees a real "fast & furious" boost before the real race takes place in Singapore's first-ever night race Formula One event on September 28.

From Singapore, the next stops will be in Bangkok during October and New Delhi in November 2008.

GAC Logistics is the official logistics partner for the STAR Sports Speedzone Presented by ING regional road shows and is responsible for the entire inbound and outbound cargo movements for all the regional destinations for the event.

"While the challenge for F1 fans is pitting their racing skills against the electronic F1 game simulators, our challenge was ensuring that we get all the F1 road show gear to and from their destinations on time, all the time," says Jorgen Nielsen, Logistics Manager, GAC Singapore.

"GAC is very active in the logistics of major entertainment road shows globally and we know it requires 24/7 service, supported by detailed operational procedures for the movement of high value and sensitive electrical and electronic equipment that are critical to make these shows a success," he added.

"Another challenge for GAC is that many of these shows are held in entertainment complexes or shopping centers where maneuverability of large trucks can be an issue," said Nielsen.

In addition, GAC Logistics also takes care of air freight bookings, documentation, packing and unpacking, speedy customs clearance, physical cargo checks, land transport, precise timings of up-lifting and arrival of consignments, and ensuring timely delivery to and from the venue.

Other than the standard staging, lighting, and exhibition stands for the road show, GAC Logistics is moving a live-size R28 Renault F1 replica and two electronically sensitive F1 Simulator Game Cars for the ING Simulator Grand Prix Challenge in all the cities.

For 2008, GAC Logistics has already moved 250 tones of entertainment and show equipment, including those used in Celine Dion's and Christina Aguilera's concerts, the F3000 racer, as well as promotional items for ESPN STAR Sports.
