Singapore Acts to Retain Top Logistics Talents

In order to attract and retain the best talents in Singapore's logistics industry, the Singapore Logistics Association (SLA) launches the We Can Movement. This is spearheaded by the We Can identity, which is symbolic of the logistics industry's

enabling ability to make things happen.

This movement aims to reach out to three target audiences, with the following messages: for new talents interested in entering the logistics industry, informing them of the exciting and future career opportunities available; for existing talents within the logistics industry, emphasizing the need to change mindsets, boost the industry's skills and create new solutions; for the general public, communicating how this multi-faceted industry enables lives and business, driving the quality of life that Singapore has come to expect.

The message will also stress the importance of the logistics sector to the economy, globalisation and maintenance of Singapore's leading competitive edge.

"With its strategic location, good market connectivity, efficient 24/7 operations and

sound infrastructure, Singapore has developed its supply chain capabilities to become a world-leader in the global logistics industry," said Lim Hng Kiang, minister for trade and industry, who was the guest-of-honour at the launch of SLA's We Can Movement held at Sentosa.

Minister Lim added, "To maintain our competitive edge, the logistics industry must explore new areas for improvement. It must also build on its existing capabilities to become a leader in innovative logistics and supply chain management solutions."

"Singapore will need to train, attract and retain the best talents, in order to build up the sophistication of its logistics industry, to meet global business demands. The We Can Movement that is being launched today aims to inspire and power the logistics sector, in order to maintain Singapore's leading position as a world-class logistics hub," said Dennis Quek, deputy chairman of the SLA. Mr Quek is also the founding partner of 3 of Knowledge LLP.
