Psion Teklogix Awarded Contract by US Department of Defense for Asset Tracking

Psion Teklogix has announced that the Department of Defense (DoD) has ordered more than 1,600 additional units of the company’s ruggedized mobile computers. Building on its 20 year relationship with the DoD, the company will supply devices for use by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and the Defense Logistics Information Service (DLIS).

This additional acquisition will bring the total number of Psion Teklogix devices being used by the DoD to more than 8,000 units around the world. As part of the award, the company will provide extended warranties for its products to both the DLA and DLIS for a minimum of five years.

The Defense Logistics Agency provides worldwide logistics support to the military services as well as several civilian agencies and foreign countries. DLA has ordered additional Psion Teklogix 7535G2 handheld computers, 8525G2 vehicle mount computers and 9160G2 access points, along with a number of accessories for use in its 26 depot locations worldwide.

Psion Teklogix’ devices are used by the DLA to track the shipping and receiving of everything from bullets to bandages throughout the world in peace and wartime. In addition to this hardware purchase, the company also works with the DLA to continuously upgrade its wireless infrastructure to ensure compliance with DoD security requirements.
