New Logistics Hub in Hamburg

Kuehne + Nagel is expanding its position in the Greater Hamburg area. On a 120,000 sqm plot of land situated right at the motorway intersection Sued, the company is building a modern logistics center, which includes 45,000 sqm of warehousing and handling space. The investment amounts to about 50 million euros.

With this enhancement of its logistics infrastructure, Kuehne + Nagel is responding to the development of both its contract logistics and overland transport activities in the Greater Hamburg area, and is consolidating these two business operations in one large-scale facility. Combining these activities at a single location allows for a reduction of empty trips and leveraging synergy potentials.

The construction is scheduled to last approximately one year. Among the 500 Kuehne + Nagel staff planned to be working in Obergeorgswerder by late summer 2009, there will be some 100 newly created jobs.
