Manhattan Associates Optimizes Supply Chain for Magna in Australia

Manhattan Associates has announced that Magna Home Entertainment has undergone an upgrade of its warehouse management solution. The latter is an independent DVD distributor in Australia and New Zealand, and was the first Australian customer to go live with the former’s logistics execution system, SCALE: Supply Chain Architected for Logistics Execution.

Having successfully used SCALE to manage its entire warehouse management operations for almost three years, Magna made the decision to upgrade to the latest version of the platform following its acquisition by film and television production group, Beyond International. Magna wanted to integrate its warehouse management system with a number of core business systems being used by its new parent company. Among these include its Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) system, which enables group subsidiaries to exchange data electronically with trading partners.

Commenting on the rationale for the upgrade, Chris Bailey, national operations & IT manager, Magna Home Entertainment, explained, “Given the pivotal role that Manhattan SCALE plays in helping us manage our day-to-day warehouse operations, we recognised an immediate need to integrate the platform with the core systems being used by our new parent company.”

“Given that some key customers such as Kmart and Big W use a different trading system, it was imperative we integrate the platform into the EDI system used by Beyond International so that they too could realize some of the instant benefits from the platform,” he explained.
