Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Top Transportation and Logistics Companies in Asia Pacific

Frost & Sullivan has presented 37 awards to the best companies in the Asia Pacific transportation and logistics industry. Kavan Mukhtyar, partner at Frost & Sullivan said that the awards seek to recognize companies for demonstrating outstanding achievement and superior performance.

The awards banquet was officiated by Quek Swee Kuan, Assistant MD, Singapore Economic Development Board. Gopal R, director, Transportation and Logistics Practice, Asia Pacific said that homegrown talents such as Singapore Airport Terminal Services Limited, PSA International and Northport Malaysia were selected as Asia Pacific award recipients this year.

First-time recipients included Global Coalition for Efficient Logistics (GCEL), PosLaju Malaysia and Thailand Post.

“The 2009 award recipients have clearly demonstrated outstanding commitment to their clients,” Gopal said, adding that the award categories offered each year were reviewed and evaluated to reflect the current market landscape and include new and emerging segments of the logistics business.

He said that logistics end-users are becoming more demanding and expect more efficient just-in-time logistics operations to reduce inventory cost.

“Cost management and inventory management are two key priorities for logistics end-user organizations across the region. Organizations are looking to manage their logistics cost through better transportation planning, consolidation services and effective integration of their overall supply chain,” Gopal said.

He added that established logistics markets such as Singapore present opportunities for service parts management, reverse logistics and just-in-time operations. Meanwhile, supply chain integration, safety and security of cargo and trade facilitation cost optimization are of priority for logistics end-user in developing markets such as Malaysia.

“The enablers for growth include the need to effectively manage the shift in consumer demand, sustain innovation, retain talent, focus on strategic transactions, as well as take heed of environmental concerns and regulatory compliance,” Gopal said.

Global Coalition for Efficient Logistics (GCEL) Asia was the Platinum Partner for the Awards while Pos Malaysia was the Corporate Collateral Partner.
