Emerson Taps Schneider National to Lead Transportation Division

Schneider National has announced that it will take over operations of the Emerson transportation division by the end of 2009.

The former will provide the latter with a dedicated fleet, including approximately 300 drivers, with a majority of the work conducted by teams.

“In today’s economic environment, operating a trucking company is tough enough when it’s your core competency; it’s even more challenging when it’s not your specialty,” says Mark Rourke, president, Truckload Services, for Schneider National. “Companies like Emerson know that they can deploy their people and financial resources toward core strategies and leave the transportation work to us.”

According to Rourke, Schneider National plans to hire many of the drivers who previously worked for Emerson.
