DHL ANNOUNCES SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY CHAIN INVESTMENT
Amid the lush greenery of Singapore’s Botanic Gardens, DHL and National University of Singapore (NUS) launched the S$3 million (US$2.14 million) Sustainable Supply Chain Centre of Asia Pacific. The collaboration between the business community and higher education aims to develop and implement best practice sustainable supply chains solutions in Asia Pacific. The Centre will be housed at The Logistics Institute-Asia Pacific, NUS.
Paul Graham, CEO DHL Supply Chain Asia Pacific speaking at the launch, “The region is developing rapidly but the voice of Asia Pacific has not been loud enough when it comes to leading the sustainability agenda.” He hopes the Centre will address this issue by raising awareness of the need to put developments on a sustainable path through conferences and research papers.
Responding to questions from Logistics Insight Asia, Graham said it is the only forum in Asia that combines academic rigors with business practicalities; the end result being the offering of realistic, solutions to the supply chain communities. He added that though initially funded by DHL, the Centre should be generating its own fund in the long-run.
