DHL and Yusen Pre-Lease Warehousing in Hong Kong
Goodman Group has hosted the groundbreaking for Interlink, the former’s landmark warehouse and distribution development in Hong Kong's Tsing Yi port district. The project is valued at more than HK$4 billion (US$500 million).
When completed in January 2012, the 2.4 million sq feet (222,000 sq meters) development will be the fourth largest warehouse in Hong Kong. Over 1.2 million sq feet, approximately half of the total Gross Lettable Area (GLA) has been preleased and optioned to two global logistics operators – DHL Supply Chain (Hong Kong) and Yusen Air & Sea Services (Hong Kong). Goodman is in negotiations with other international logistics players, equivalent to 77 percent of the GLA.
The groundbreaking and signing event was attended by approximately 150 people, including senior representatives from DHL Supply Chain and Yusen Air and Sea Services.
Interlink will be built in compliance with both the Hong Kong Building Environments Assessment Method (HKBEAM) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) environmental assessment methods, with the aim to be the first of its type to obtain such accreditations and awards in Hong Kong.
