Descartes Hits 35,000 Connections on GLN

Descartes Systems hit a milestone of 35,000 connections on its federated Global Logistics Network (GLN). The GLN is a cloud-based technology platform consisting of a dense trading network and application services, used by organizations seeking to optimize their operations. Companies that connect to GLN are able to collaborate with their trading partners using one technology platform, significantly reducing operational costs and accelerating time-to-value.

Descartes' strategy is focused on uniting trading partners and connecting them through one federated network, allowing for easy communication, collaboration and access to application services. GLN is the technology platform that enables organizations and global trading partners to connect and collaborate in a secure and reliable way. Last month, Descartes hit a milestone of 35,000 connections on its GLN.

"Logistics is one of the most vital elements of global business. Uniting 35,000 trading partners is a significant milestone in our ongoing effort and mission to improve performance and sustainability of the logistic operations of our customers," said Arthur Mesher, CEO of Descartes. "We continue to standardize processes across the pre-connected network of partners to enable customers to immediately deploy improvements in business operations."

Descartes is committed to building the most valuable global business network to run, improve and simplify logistic processes, by

* federating with other networks through cloud-based technology;

* offering a uniform approach to connecting, communicating and collaborating; and

* providing accessibility to content and services to manage these processes.

"In the current globalized economy, logistics can be considered as the backbone of global commercial activities," said Mesher. "Logistics is not only crucial, but also facing numerous challenges to all partners of the supply chain to increase overall performance."

The GLN is one of the world's most extensive multi-modal business application networks that exploit a range of over 50 value-added services that span the entire "book to bill" process, from freight bookings to multi-modal trade compliancy filings and archiving to fleet management.

Connecting over 35,000 trading partners globally, the GLN has become an inherent infrastructure for commerce. The GLN trading partners, including ground carriers, airlines, ocean carriers, retailers, distributors, manufacturers, third-party logistics providers, customs brokers and regulatory agencies, are connected and able to communicate and collaborate with one connection, using one platform.

Furthermore, the GLN currently interconnects with the over 20 other business networks of Descartes' United by Design partners.
