China DRTV Invests In Manhattan Supply Chain Solution
China DRTV has chosen Manhattan SCALE as the technology backbone to support the continued growth of its business and the distribution of products to customers across 2000 cities in China.
China DRTV established its integrated multi-media sales and marketing platform in 1998, offering consumer products and services through catalogues, an outbound telemarketing centre and an e-commerce operation. With a fast-growing consumer-oriented retail market in China, the business has seen substantial growth in demand for its products and services.
To effectively support the current volume of goods being handled and to accommodate future growth, China DRTV decided to build two new 180,000 square foot distribution centres (DCs) in Qingpu.
Having previously relied on a manual and semi-automated operation, China DRTV turned to Manhattan Associates for an advanced warehouse management system that will fully automate and optimise the operational processes within the new DCs.
The flexible functionality of Manhattan SCALE will ensure the effective management of China DRTV’s multi-channel business, help to speed up the picking and shipping processes, and improve operational productivity. At the same time the warehouse management system will provide a high-level of order accuracy and improve the overall quality of service that China DRTV provides to its customers.
Manhattan Associates’ partner AdvancedTEK Consulting played an instrumental role in influencing China DRTV’s decision to select Manhattan SCALE, having demonstrated an impressive breadth of experience in implementing and supporting Manhattan SCALE for a range of businesses in China.
China DRTV was impressed with the combined approach of AdvancedTEK and Manhattan, as well as with the fact that the Manhattan system can be easily implemented, an aspect that will allow China DRTV to configure the system themselves further down the line.
“We wanted to select a proven and flexible warehouse management solution that would not only enable us to adopt a best practice operational approach within the new DCs, but also meet our business needs regardless of how big we grow,” said Meng Wei, chief information officer at China DRTV.
“After a thorough review of available solutions in the marketplace, we concluded that Manhattan had a strong track record and was able to demonstrate experience in providing solutions to businesses similar to ours. Based on the recognised value-creating capabilities of its software and the expertise of its team, we are confident we will have a highly effective solution that will help us to establish a robust, high velocity and efficient distribution network across China.”
“Our unique experience in deploying warehouse management solutions, particularly in the B2C sector, was key to us being entrusted with this project,” said Arnold Consengco, managing director of North Asia at Manhattan Associates.
“We look forward to working closely with China DRTV to optimise the company’s distribution and service operations to get products to its customers faster and provide the scalability required to accommodate continued growth. In conjunction with our partner AdvancedTEK we are confident China DRTV will be able to quickly realise key business benefits with our solution.”
Rody Wang, AdvancedTek’s vice president, said: “We are very pleased to be working with Manhattan on this project. It highlights our ability to deliver complex integrated supply chain solutions in a diverse range of geographies. In addition, it demonstrates that clients today are looking for more than just project completion - they want reliable and local implementation and ongoing system support as well as value-added services included as part of the contract. We are looking forward to helping China DRTV achieve their business goals.”
