Ceva Selected by Samsung as Supply Chain Provider

Ceva Logistics has signed a three-year agreement worth €6.5 million (US$8.8 million) with Samsung to manage the supply chain for the latter’s air conditioners in Italy.

The former will run the entire operation, including handling customs clearance in the port of Genoa, storage in its warehouse in Pognano, near Bergamo and final distribution to end users in Italy. Given the seasonal nature of the activity, the solution ensures operative flexibility, managing approximately 230,000 packages every year, with 50 percent of the total volume being handled in four months of the year.

Ceva enables Samsung to monitor the entire logistics operation through the latest technology, including delivery tracking with computerized interface and dedicated web portal, assuring complete visibility in real time for every stage of the operation. The former will handle reverse logistics activities, including receipt of return and re-stocking of product. Upon request, the former will also undertake value-add services such as re-packaging, re-labelling and market configuration of products. To complete the service offered to Samsung, Ceva will create a specific area for the quality control of products.
