Asia Pacific Contributes 14% To Motorola Solutions Global Revenues

Motorola Solutions registered strong growth from the Asia Pacific region in the second quarter of 2011. The region contributed 14 percent of global revenues, up from 12 percent a year ago. The growth across all Asian markets was led by good momentum in China and Australia, and seen in both enterprise and government segments.

Headquartered regionally in Singapore, Motorola Solutions has 16 offices in the Asia Pacific region, with approximately 5,000 employees, as well as manufacturing and distribution in Penang and Malaysia, and research and design centers in Malaysia, China and India. In the region, the company has 2,000 channel partners and works with an extensive independent software vendor (ISV) community to deliver its communication solutions to customers.
Motorola Solutions delivers mission-critical communication solutions, sales force automation solutions, retail solutions, mobile computing, automated data capture, RFID-based asset tracking and management solutions, patient safety solutions, facility management solutions for health care, and a host of other solutions, underpinned by its wireless network and network security management solutions.
Notable contract wins in the first half of 2011 include supplying a digital radio network for Queensland Gas Corporation and managed services to a large mining customer in Australia, among others. In China, Motorola Solutions also recently delivered TETRA digital trunking communications solutions for airports across seven provinces, Guangzhou Metro No.3 North Extension Line, and an emergency linkage to China’s Nanning Government Radio Network (GRN).
Recent awards include Special Honor Awards for Rail Transit Enterprise Innovations, Excellent Supplier Award in China's Manufacturing Industry, as well as various others in mobile computer/wireless products in China Computer World.
The company has extensive experience in implementing nationwide Government Radio Networks, which are the critical communication backbone for government mission-critical communications. To-date, Motorola Solutions has implemented five GRNs in Asia Pacific and supplied subscriber products to several more networks for customers.
Its solutions are trusted by many metro rail networks in major cities, including metros in Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Bangkok, Guangzhou, New Delhi, Mumbai, Express Rail in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the high-speed rail network in Taiwan, Indian Railway and Kowloon-Canton Rail Corporation.
Motorola Solutions’s support for major international events recently in the region have included communication solutions for the Guangzhou Asian Games and Shanghai World Expo.
In July, Motorola Solutions announced the expansion of its services business and portfolio to meet demand from existing customers. The services business portfolio is comprised of integration services, managed services, professional services and support services. Key countries in the region leading this expansion effort include Singapore, Australia and China among others.
