CEMAT ASIA SEES VISITOR NUMBERS RISE
Logistics Insight Asia, 1/11/2008

CeMAT ASIA closed its gates in Shanghai, China, on 30 October following four tradeshow days during which some exhibitors presented the latest developments in intralogistics. The event, which was co-located with power transmission show PTC Asia, registered an attendance of some 45,000 visitors, a more than 10 percent increase compared with last year.
One key event was the inaugural “International Conference on ICT Solutions and Products for Materials Handling and Logistics”, which took place on 28 and 29 October. Here, top speakers from around the world talked with an audience of approximately 300 about intelligent IT solutions for logistics in terms of their potential, opportunities and trends.
A further highlight was the “Automated Guided Vehicles Pavilion”, a special display focusing on driverless transport systems and organized by Deutsche Messe Hannover in collaboration with Prof Lothar Schulze from Leibniz University Hannover, who is convinced that these technologies will be in great demand in China in the coming years.
NEW CEMAT IN 2010
Deutsche Messe also confirmed its plans to organize CeMAT Middle East at Dubai’s International Airport Expo Center from 19 to 21 January 2010. The exhibition will comprise all aspects of intralogistics, including forklifts and other industrial trucks, materials handling accessories, rack systems, warehouse systems, packaging, loading equipment, cranes, auto-ID systems and software.
“The decision to stage CeMAT Middle East in Dubai was in response to the wishes of our CeMAT exhibitors to be represented by a trade fair in the emerging markets of the Near and Middle East”, said Dr Andreas Gruchow, Member of the Deutsche Messe managing board.
The Gulf region is developing into an international hub for logistics, offering outstanding opportunities for the intralogistics sector as a whole, says Deutsche Messe. Dubai, especially, is expanding its market position, but even smaller neighbors like Bahrain and Qatar exhibit considerable potential. The overall logistics market for the Golf Cooperation Council (Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman) is estimated at an annual US$12 billion.
