Sanitarium Health Foods Leverages i2 Solutions for Master and Distribution Planning Capabilities

Logistics Insight Asia - Industry News, 2/9/2008

Working together with i2 Technologies, Sanitarium Health Food Company, Australia and New Zealand’s largest health food company, runs a more efficient and streamlined production planning process. With solutions from both i2 and Planscape, the company runs its master planning as well as distribution and deployment planning across the enterprise.

Said Rob Scoines, Sanitarium Health Food Company, “We knew that focusing on our production planning capabilities was paramount to the success of our business as we strive to keep up with customer demands and provide exceptional quality, price and service levels.”

Sanitarium is able to run master and production planning processes across its seven plants leveraging solutions from both companies. The solutions run on i2’s service oriented architecture, the Agile Business Process Platform. As a result, Sanitarium has been able to focus on its planning processes by evolving from weekly to daily planning cycles as well as reducing its inventory investment. Sanitarium also uses these tools to reduce the complexity and business risk around their current customized workflow and data preparation tools. These solutions enable the company to provide a complete approach to forecasting, demand plans and performance management to influence price and promotional activities.

“With today’s emphasis on demand-driven manufacturing, food and beverage companies are finding that balancing inventory and customer service objectives in an environment with capacity and material constraints and a high product mix can be extremely challenging,” said Planscape Vice President of Solutions Charlie Marge Charlie Marge.
