CCA Awards New Route Distribution Facility Contract to Dematic

Logistics Insight Asia - Industry News, 5/8/2008

Coca Cola Amatil (CCA) recently awarded Dematic an order for a $10 million route distribution system to be installed in their newly developed Eastern Creek distribution centre.

The Eastern Creek site will consolidate all of CCA’s NSW route distribution business and is part of the overall $170 million Project Jupiter development plan. The NSW route distribution facility will be one of the largest mixed carton picking facilities in Australasia and will distribute the complete range of CCA’s products, including water, carbonated soft drinks, juices and new alcoholic beverages. Dematic worked closely with CCA in a consultancy arrangement for over 18 months to develop the final system design and distribution solution.

The Dematic system will include automated dock unloading and pallet sortation, an automated dispatch staging system, paperless picking technology coordinated by Dematic’s PickDirector order management software, and an innovative negative carton picking methodology.

Dematic will implement the order management system, working closely with CCA’s project and operational personnel to ensure a smooth transition across from a number of current picking facilities. Dematic’s PickDIRECTOR order management system will also integrate to an existing Warehouse Management System.
