Getting Fresh at CeMAT India

Logistics Insight Asia - Industry News, 13/7/2008

Demand for industrial trucks, forklifts, hoisting gear, cranes, software and materials handling and warehousing systems is especially strong on the Indian logistics market. The market is enjoying annual growth rates of 20 to 30 percent and its annual sales volume is expected to reach 140 billion euros by 2015.

This year’s CeMAT INDIA (Dec 10-13), the International Trade Fair for Intralogistics, will feature the new keynote themes of “Contract Logistics” and "Fresh Logistics.” The fair is expected to attract more than 180 exhibitors, significantly up from the 150 last year.

The new Fresh Logistics display area has a strong focus on cool chain logistics, currently a very lucrative market in India, with industry analysts predicting some 1.2 billion euros of capital investment in the coming years.

India tends to be lacking in infrastructure, a fact that makes its logistics costs very high by international standards. Consequently, access to highly functional logistics systems is becoming an increasingly important competitive factor.

Which is why more and more Indian companies are outsourcing their logistics functions to external providers who provide transport plus a range of services, such as packaging, labeling, billing and tracking. These third party logistics providers will be able to secure maximum exposure for their service offerings at the “Contract Logistics” pavilion at this year’s CeMAT INDIA.
