TNT Express, the global express delivery services provider, is bringing much needed support to Cyclone Nargis victims in Myanmar by way of leveraging its existing road network services to transport relief supplies collected from the Royal Thai Army in Bangkok. 22 TNT trucks will deliver 150 ton of aid commodity from Bangkok to Tak Province, then onward to Myanmar.

With its vast experience and skill in emergency response assistance, TNT has been on standby to provide support since the cyclone struck in Myanmar. Alan Miu, Country General Manager, TNT Express Worldwide (Thailand) said, “With the scale of the disaster this massive, TNT is ready to contribute to the relief effort to alleviate the extreme hardship currently afflicting the people of disaster-struck Myanmar. We are working with the Royal Thai Army to deliver much-needed goods and supplies that have been collected for the cyclone victims via our extensive ground network. This will ensure that the aid gets to those in need in the fastest and most efficient manner possible. ”

TNT operates an extensive domestic road network throughout Thailand, providing an express delivery service with time-definite solutions with the ability to track shipment’s status by utilising the company’s 24 hour Track and Trace system.

Together with industry peers UPS and Agility, TNT has also developed ‘Logistics Emergency Teams’ to lend a collective hand to humanitarian organisations in natural disaster zones.
