Kuehne + Nagel Deploys Integrated Logistics Concept for Legrand in Algeria
Logistics Insight Asia - Industry News, 10/6/2008
Legrand, the global specialist in products and systems for electrical installations and information networks, has awarded Kuehne + Nagel a contract to handle the supply of its products to clients in Algeria.
The French industry group has ambitious development plans for the Algerian market, hence the need for a robust and reliable supply chain solution. Under the terms of the new agreement, Kuehne + Nagel is entrusted with the end-to-end physical flows management of goods out of Legrand’s in-house international distribution centre at Verneuil-en-Halatte, Picardy / France to customers in Algeria.
The solution implemented and managed by Kuehne + Nagel includes pick-up of containers and isolated pallets, road shuttling to Marseille port, LCL (less than container load) consolidation and transport by sea to Algiers, as well as customs and import declarations management. Inventory management and order picking are managed at a 2,000 sqm shared-user facility in the Algiers area from where final road distribution is ensured.
The solution is supported by KN Login, Kuehne + Nagel’s web-based visibility and monitoring tool that provides Legrand with 24/7 access to all relevant transportation data, and thereby allowing for the constant monitoring of distribution flow and delivery status information.
