One of Hong Kong’s largest industry events on Supply Chain Management (SCM) will be held on 10 October 2008 at JW Marriott Hotel, Hong Kong. Organized by GS1 Hong Kong, the Supply Chain Management Excellence Summit will involve over 20 renowned global speakers from leading supply chain organizations from around the world who will come together to share insights into the latest developments in standards, technologies, market practices, and customer case studies.
As a local chapter of an international supply chain standards body, GS1 Hong Kong is committed to driving adoption of standards-based supply chain solutions to help enterprises in Hong Kong and the PRD region to satisfy customers and connect to the global marketplace. The Summit promises to be bigger than ever, bringing together business and supply chain leaders spanning manufacturing, retailing, wholesaling and distribution, transport and logistics, information technology and government.
With the theme of “Achieving Business Sustainability”, this year’s conference will present key issues and topics critical to the future success and sustainability of businesses in the new era of globalization. “As globalization grows in new and ever more complicated dimensions, today’s businesses are becoming increasingly interconnected. Therefore, we need to improve responsiveness to customers’ needs through better Supply Chain Management. To turn these challenges into opportunities for growth, enterprises must equip themselves with the latest Supply Chain Management practices and technologies – specifically Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology,” said Anna Lin, Chief Executive of GS1 Hong Kong.
According to Gartner's "Market Trends: Radio Frequency Identification, Worldwide, 2007-2012" report, worldwide RFID revenue is expected to triple to reach US$3.5 billion between now and 2012 and RFID adoption in Asia Pacific supply chain applications is expected to outpace most other regions.
