Tightened Security Checks on Outbound Express Shipments from Shanghai

Logistics Insight Asia - Industry News, 4/6/2008

The authorities in Shanghai are reinforcing security measures for some outbound express shipments. The procedures cover, but are not limited to, (1) all types of equipment containing lithium batteries, and (2) all types of chemical products.

To ensure your packages do not encounter any delays due to security inspection, please inform your shippers in mainland China to provide all the relevant documentation outlined below when sending such shipments.

All types of equipment that contain a lithium battery or chemical products must be accompanied by a Certification for Safe Transport of Chemical Goods (Test Report) issued by the Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry Testing Centre. A copy of the Test Report and an original copy of a stamped Letter of Liability (copies of the stamp cannot be accepted) must be attached together with the shipment. In the event that a stamped Letter of Liability cannot be provided, the original Test Report must be attached.
