Ethernet Direct Corporation’s industrial managed gigabit switches have been chosen in airport deployment application.

Nowadays, traveling is indispensable to everyone whether for business or leisure. The modern technology in airports is all possible by means of Ethernet in Intelligent Transportation. A network plan requiring the deployment of managed switches allows the system to be able to carry out different architecture in an airport from providing data transfer to distribute monitoring system which controls airport Terminal, moving aprons for passengers, docking terminals for planes, Baggage sorting etc.

To ensure the airport and the passengers experience convenience and security, a recent application in North America deployed Ethernet Direct Industrial Gigabit Managed Switches and Device servers in its new architecture. In the control level, multiple HMG-448G are connected to the server to form a redundant ring. By incorporating special architecture of Redundancy mechanisms, high performance Industrial Gigabit Ethernet switches from Ethernet Direct guarantees extreme protection against airport network failure. In case data connection fails, the network is designed with redundant path data connection in a matter of a few milliseconds.

From the main ring, the multiple Industrial 8-port Gigabit Ethernet Switches with 4 SFP slots (HMG-448G) are then connected to HMG-628G with provides six ports of 10/100/1000 Mbps connection with 2 SFP slots. This combination offers greater redundancy to each parking lane group. From the device level, device servers are connected to each of the intercom system, Security cameras, card readers and other devices in the airport. The use of redundant Ethernet shared fiber ring which allow the control center to monitor the progress of locations all around the airport. The backbone design incorporates Ethernet on single mode fiber optic cable and redundant link via Dual homing.

A typical airport network is based on IEEE 802.2 industrial Ethernet switches designed to meet the requirement of reliability and safety. Therefore, Ethernet Direct switches are perfect for deployment coupled with IntraVUE Network management software which provides an effective diagnostic tool that is simple and easy to use required in managing groups of distributed Ethernet nodes.
