Videojet 2320 Large Character Ink Jet Printer Provides Cost Savings for Case Coding Application

Logistics Asia - New Products, 6/5/2008

The Videojet 2320 large-character ink jet printer from Videojet Technologies Inc. provides reliable, high-resolution on-line printing of variable data on corrugated shipping containers for applications that require code heights up to 2 inches (50 mm). The Videojet 2320 also reduces cost of ownership compared to other printers due to its unique automatic self-cleaning and self-maintenance system that continuously keeps printheads free of dust and debris, eliminating the need for manual cleaning. Plus, the self-maintenance system is non-contact, so it avoids printhead damage that can occur during periodic maintenance required on other ink jet printers.

Videojet’s 2300 series printers are the industry’s only large character printers that recycle and reuse ink that was used during automatic printhead maintenance. The printers also have an air-driven ink system that eliminates potential downtime due to maintenance on pumps, solenoids and other moving parts. New ink is added simply and cleanly using sealed, non-pressurized containers, without stopping production. All ink used within the maintenance process is automatically recycled and filtered for re-use with no waste or mess, ensuring a clean operating area and maximum uptime between ink refills.

The ability to operate multiple printers from a single master unit provides greater flexibility. Individual or multiple Videojet 2320 printers can be controlled remotely from a programmable logic controller, a facility’s IT system or other remote computers through built-in network capability, including TCP/IP and RS-232. A carton-tracking interlock system eliminates risk of dual-marking or un-coded boxes, and prevents wasted ink and mess caused by accidental triggering of product photocells.

The intuitive CLARITY touch-screen interface provides a simple and secure means to change images in seconds, get on-board help information or view the current image on the WYSIWYG display. Users can prepare and preview the next job while running the current image, monitor performance or carry out powerful diagnostics, all without having to halt the line.
