Caterpillar Logistics Services, Inc. (Cat Logistics), a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., is opening a new, distribution center to service Newmont Mining Corporation’s Nevada operations.
The opening ceremony for the Elko, Nevada facility is scheduled to take place on June 4, and is scheduled to be fully operational by July 2008.
The new 162,000-square-foot logistics center located on Ruby Vista Drive near Kittridge Canyon will serve as a master distribution center supporting Newmont’s mining operations in north-central Nevada, which include four mine sites and five processing plants. In a combined effort with Newmont’s maintenance team, Cat Logistics’ integrated logistics solution will help reduce machine downtime and thereby aid Newmont’s 3,500 plus employees to more efficiently recover, crush, convey and process precious metals.
As part of the 10-year agreement, Cat Logistics will provide an integrated solution comprised of warehousing and inventory management services, records accuracy and transportation management services. Approximately 40 Cat Logistics professionals will serve Newmont’s Nevada operations.
