Dematic has introduced the innovative Dematic Pallet Runner for the manufacturing industry.

The Dematic Pallet Runner combines the density of drive-in systems with the benefits of pallet-flow systems.

The system uses self-propelled intelligent carts that run along rails. The rails are supported by a rack structure designed and manufactured by Dematic. The cart will shunt full pallet loads in and out of the high density storage structure. The carts can be easily positioned and repositioned by forklifts of an existing fleet.

The Dematic Pallet Runner can be set up for true FIFO (first-in/first-out) or LIFO (last-in/first-out) operation. Since the Dematic Pallet Runner™ cart operates automatically and independently within the system, forklift operators are free to focus on bringing product to and from the racking face without the need to drive into the rack,. It can operate anywhere from ground-floor level to the highest level of the rack. said Dardoumbas.

The Dematic Pallet Runner is controlled by a hand-held electronic transmitter. It communicates lift and move functions, while sensors along the storage channel determine where it must stop, deposit the load and return. The sensors also determine where the Dematic Pallet Runner™ must position itself to retrieve a load. The system's cart is easily lifted out of one storage lane and placed into another lane with a forklift truck. A single cart therefore can service multiple lanes of the system.
