Wavetrend strengthens executive team

Wavetrend, which has the world’s second-largest installed base of active RFID tags, has announced the appointment of Saleem Miyan as Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Marketing & Professional Services. Reporting directly to Chris Bishop, Wavetrend CEO, Miyan will direct and manage the company’s new, global go-to-market strategy.
“Our solutions address a market which is forecast to grow from $550 million in 2006 to $6.7 billion by 2016,” said Chris Bishop. “We believe Saleem’s international experience, Auto ID industry insight and proven leadership capabilities will help ensure the success of our very ambitious growth plans and we’re delighted to welcome Saleem as the newest member of the Wavetrend executive management team.”
Prior to joining Wavetrend, Mr. Miyan held the position of Vice President and General Manager of Checkpoint Systems, overseeing its global RFID and emerging technologies business.
He also spent six years with Philips Semiconductors, where he served in several key positions within the Identification business (Smartcards, RFID, and Near Field Communication). Under his leadership, Philips’s RFID business became a profitable, mainstream market initiative for the company.
Miyan also worked in management consultancy for Ernst & Young in London and Chicago, overseeing a team of 30 systems and software experts. A recognized speaker and chairperson, he has represented his companies at worldwide conferences and authored articles and papers on RFID deployment, technology development, and emerging new technologies [ ]
