TNT expands Asia Road Network

Logistics Insight Asia, 1/1/2008

TNT has expanded its Asia Road Network into China. Reportedly the first to link over 120 cities in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indochina and China, 4000 km of route now connects Singapore to Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Guangzhou, the capital of the GuangdongProvince.

The Asia Road Network connects to TNT’s international express network in China, which has boasted double-digit growth in overall volumes since its launch in 2005. It is expected that the Asia Road Network will eventually link to TNT’s Chinese domestic network. This move will eventually allow TNT’s customers to benefit from seamless road connections in the region.

“With more than S$25 billion (US$17.5 billion) and S$2 billion invested in China and Vietnam respectively, Singapore is a key trade and business partner to both countries,” says Damien Tan, managing director of TNT Singapore.

“And with more and more Singapore businesses looking to start or expand their operations in Vietnam and China, the completion of the Asia Road Network link between these two countries offers companies immense opportunities to enhance their competitiveness and business efficiencies – particularly those with operations in the Pearl River Delta area.”
