Advantech’s First M2M GPS/GPRS Product for Fleet Management

Advantech, a global leader in embedded solutions and services announced the release of its first M2M product—VITA-350, which is an automatic vehicle location device. VITA-350 provides in-vehicle data processing and GPS tracking location solutions over GSM/GPRS networks. Aimed at fleet management applications, the VITA-350 offers a 16-channel GPS module, RS232 and GPIO ports to allow GPS location tracking, wireless data transmission and remote sensing and alarm notification. Advantech’s M2M utility software provides the tools needed to integrate VITA-350’s process and GPS data into third party or customers’ own GIS (Geographical Information System) programs.

The VITA-350 is a RISC-based platform with multi-threaded engine designed for optimal performance. It provides GPS and tri-band GSM/ GPRS connectivity with other mobile and automation devices in cars, truck fleets and other transports. VITA-350 offers one RS232 port and ten programmable GPIO pin-outs for flexible connectivity to other add-on devices such as temperature & pressure sensors for container trucks.

E-Mark/ MIL-810F/ ISO-7637 Certificated
To further ensure its implementation for in-vehicle applications, VITA-350 is certificated with the E-mark and MIL-810F standard; the E-mark is essential for vehicle-mounted products for the European market, while MIL-810F certifies that VITA-350 is shock-resistant! VITA-350 also passed the ISO-7637 standard, which certificates it’s compatible with other vehicle components. With its compact and heavy-duty plastic housing design, VITA-350 is ideal for mounting vertically or horizontally inside most vehicles. VITA-350 can withstand the harshest environments with wide temperature operation ranging from -15 to 65°C.

Easy-to-use Utility Software
The VITA-350 platform ensures that you can integrate your process and GPS data into existing M2M systems, or develop your own proprietary geographical information system (GIS) data formats. Advantech’s M2M utility software is an easy-to-use and flexible human machine interface, which provides functions to customize M2M applications in Windows® XP and Windows CE environments. M2M utility software uses a simple GUI to setup your M2M process data, as well as GPS tracking and automation parameters for external devices which will be automatically detected and shown on the utility screen. After setting the server’s IP address, port and data formats, the VITA-350 will automatically connect to the server and send GPS or I/O process data to the backend server.

The VITA-350 forms part of a total solution when combined with Advantech’s TREK series Vehicle Mounted Panel computers and MARS series Rugged Handheld Terminals. All these products are industrial grade platforms that link seamlessly together to provide powerful Warehousing & Logistics, Delivery/Fleet Management or Container Yard solutions.
