Manhattan Associates WMS “Ready-To-Run” on IBM Technology
Logistics Insight Asia - Technology & Market Trends, 27/11/2009
The growing use of server virtualization technology has enabled companies to reduce costs and overhead while optimizing computing resources throughout the enterprise. While the technology creates deployment flexibility, it can also result in performance issues if high-yield solutions that are running on the server are not tested for a virtualized environment.
To support this technology, Manhattan Associates has announced that its Warehouse Management (WMS) and Transportation, Planning and Execution (TP&E) solutions are tested and ready-to-run on the IBM AIX 6.1 operating system, featuring PowerVM virtualization technology.
IBM PowerVM technology provides industrial strength virtualization for AIX operating systems on IBM Power Systems. PowerVM virtualizes processor and I/O resources for client partitions, enabling increased asset utilization, enhanced infrastructure flexibility and reduced costs. Virtualization technology allows organizations to consolidate multiple operating systems and software stacks on a single platform, and allocate the platform to meet specific business and application requirements in a more dynamic fashion.
