SUPPLY CHAIN VISIBILITY FORUM
Logistics Insight Asia, 1/9/2009
Poor visibility is our biggest problem, according to a recent survey of 400 chief supply chain officers by IBM. The study also revealed that the vast majority of executives could not put together a true picture of what is truly happening in their supply chains.
Given this rather grim backdrop, it was perhaps no surprise to see a packed ballroom at Singapore’s Hilton Hotel for the September 2nd half-day forum, Visibility Through the Supply Chain, organized by Logistics Insight Asia with the support of software solutions provider AEB Asia Pacific, and featuring participants from IBM, Frost & Sullivan, Damco, The Logistics Institute (TLI), and AEB Gmbh.
Through three informative presentations and an hour-long panel-of-experts session, delegates were able to walk away with valuable knowledge on aspects such as: What exactly is supply chain visibility? Why is it so difficult to achieve? And some of the steps and solutions that companies can take and adopt to make things a little clearer.
“The overwhelming response from the regional logistics community shows that in times of strategic readjustments, ‘better visibility’ is a fundamental need. Events like this provide a good basis for the more intense discussions necessary for organizations to make real improvements,” remarked Torsten Mallee, business development director, AEB Asia Pacific.
