METAL-FRIENDLY RFID LABEL
Logistics Insight Asia, 1/5/2009

Confidex announces the launch of its latest RFID tag innovation: Confidex SteelWING, a passive UHF C1G2 special label that can function directly on metal surfaces, a medium which potential RFID users have traditionally faced obstacles in finding a tag that is simultaneously well-performing, easily installable and cost-effective.
With up to 10 meter read range on metal surfaces, the UHF Class 1 Generation 2 compliant Confidex SteelWING was designed to overcome the challenges of metal asset tagging. The lightweight tag comes with an adhesive background and can be directly attached on metal surface – without any extra spacer material.
Instead of having to avoiding metal contact, the contact between the metal and the antenna of Confidex SteelWING can actually improve the operational performance. Equipped with the NXP G2XM IC, which has extended user memory, Confidex can deliver the SteelWINGs with pre-encoding or a customer specific data label showing visually the encoded data in barcode or human readable form.
