SSI SCHAEFER HEADS TOP SUPPLIER LIST

For the third consecutive year, SSI Schaefer holds the number one position on the survey of worldwide materials handling systems suppliers by Modern Materials Handling magazine, the USbased sister publication of Logistics Insight Asia.

In 2008, Schaefer reported worldwide revenues of USS$2.51 billion, up from $2.41 billion in 2007. The acquisition by Schaefer last October of systems integrator and software provider Salomon Automation was a signifi cant event for the Germany-headquartered company. Meanwhile, its Asia Pacific and Middle East region has seen doubledigit growth rates prevailed for the past three years, and 2009 marks the commemoration of 25 years of establishment in Asia, with celebrations centering in Singapore, the site of Schaefer’s regional headquarters.

Elsewhere in the survey, Daifuku came in at number two with $2.41 billion, Legris Industries was number three with $1.09 billion, while Dematic retained its number four position with $1 billion in sales. The biggest gains were reported by Vanderlande Industries (#5) up 24 percent; TGW Logistics Group, (#13) also up 24 percent; Murata Machinery (#8) up 16 percent; Kardex(#10) up 10 percent; and FlexLink Systems (#20) also up 10 percent.
