DHL EXPRESS CONSOLIDATES REGIONAL AREAS
Logistics Insight Asia, 1/5/2009
As part of a wide-ranging restructuring by DHL Express to create a leaner and more streamlined organization, the business is to be split geographically into three operating areas: Asia Pacific and EEMEA, Europe, and the Americas. Previously, Asia Pacific and EEMEA (Eastern Europe Middle East Africa) were separate operating units.
Taking over responsibility for DHL Asia Pacific from Dan McHugh, who was appointed CEO, DHL Express Asia Pacific in 2007, is John Pearson, who assumes the title of executive vice president, Asia Pacifi c/EEMEA.
Pearson is a DHL veteran, having first joined the company in the Middle East in 1986. In 2008 he was appointed as CEO, EEMEA, after a tenure as executive vice president, DHL Express USA. Pearson also spent three years serving as commercial director for DHL Asia Pacific, based in Singapore, where he was responsible for the sales, marketing, and business development activities for DHL Express across the region’s 42 markets.
As for Dan McHugh, DHL says it is reviewing suitable roles for him as he works with Pearson on combining the Asia Pacific and EEMEA organizations.
